Rezerection of bboying (blog 3) kings of the castle

Often times there is more than a single jam host in an area or state. and how many times have you seen multiple jams on the same day?

i'm going to fill everyone in on a little story.

a long time ago my father started a scuba diving business, after starting his several others popped up. which is fine because they're going to get their own business for who they are and get the people based off their performances anyway. instead of just being happy with their business, they wanted more so they started to compete for the students. (much like bboys who throw jams have to compete for spectators and bboys to come to their events)

As they competed their classes became less about the classes and more about the who can get more students at their place, due to their competitive nature everyone started dropping the cost of their classes (again worrying less about them just doing their thing) they cost several people their business until there was only 2 or 3 scuba stores left in the area.

The relevance of this story is simple. If they had just kept doing what they were doing, they could have built the community up from a few recreational scuba divers to a large community of people who had a common interest who could relate and bring more people into the scuba diving world.

In terms of jam hosts,  we will use NY,PA,NJ as examples. NY, PA & NJ are all throwing jams. They are all kings and have their own castles so they can easily keep their kingdom running well without worrying about what the other kingdoms are doing because they know they'll be ok without the others kingdom. But what people don't realize is they can use the other kingdom, so instead of just saying MY JAM IS THE BEST JAM AND WAY BETTER THEN HIS SO DONT GO. NY, NJ, & PA could collectively decide to support each others events. If everyones goal is the same (to expand breakdancing and bring it to the next level, and make sure that it doesnt die) then we should connect eachother and decide to throw jams as a group.

With that being said, when one of the other kings (jam hosts if you havent gotten that connection yet) decides to have a festival on the 22nd, YOU SHOULD NOT throw another festival on that day. Again look at the goals, what are they? To get as many people to your event as possible, get as many bboys and spectators to show up for an event that provides a true unity, something we should all be striving for because we all have a common love of breaking and would like to see it do better.

this weekend for those that dont know me, got a little out of hand at a jam. the jam host and i had some words because he was being disrespectful and then against everything you think would be about breaking; dancing, letting you be as good as you want, being unique in your own way, showing what you have regardless battling 1 person or 70 and giving it everything you got, and believing that everyone deserves a shot regardless of the situation, and uniting everyone to have a great time and make new friends (again in my mind i feel these are what breakings about) and telling me that i'm not allowed to battle and after the words we had he told me he wouldnt even battle me.
i had about 25 bboys, some ive met, some ive crossed paths with before but never talked to, and many more then not ive never even seen before stand behind me and believe in me to show this host whatsup, be it i smoke him or not they came together to support me. i have had beef with some of those people but we were kings of our own castles and banded together to accomplish something that not a single person would have been able to accomplish regardless of our goals. Everyone who was in that circle could feel the unity and a common bond of being bboys because we ARE hip-hop and bboys and a FAMILY. and when people try to treat us any differently we need to standup for ourselves and for eachother and support one another
